Getting Started with WS Cookie Consent
Learn how to install, configure, and activate the WS Cookie Consent theme app embed on your Shopify store.
WS Cookie Consent is an ultra-lightweight, high-performance privacy management suite built natively for Shopify Online Store 2.0. It delivers full GDPR, ePrivacy, CCPA/CPRA, and Law 25 compliance without adding render-blocking script bloat.
Zero Layout Shift
WS Cookie Consent is engineered with zero Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS: 0.00) and executes in under 14 KB gzipped, ensuring 100/100 Core Web Vitals.
Overview#
The application operates via Shopify Theme App Embeds. When activated, the banner dynamically checks the buyer's region using Shopify Customer Privacy API and conditionally presents your configured banner layout.
Installation Steps#
Open Shopify Theme Editor
From your Shopify Admin, navigate to Online Store > Themes and click Customize on your live theme.
Enable App Embed
Click on the App Embeds tab on the left navigation bar. Toggle on WS Cookie Consent and ensure the status is Active.
Save Theme Changes
Click the Save button in the upper right corner to activate the script across your storefront.
Verifying Storefront Embed#
Open your storefront in an incognito browser window. You should see your privacy banner render according to your chosen placement (Center Modal, Bottom Bar, Top Bar, or Floating Corner Pill).
