1. Scope and acceptance
These Terms of Service govern the installation, configuration, and operation of WS Checkout Control, its Shopify Functions extensions, theme app embeds, app proxy endpoints, and related product website services provided by WS Themes. By installing or using the app, merchants agree to these terms.
2. Important payment method limitations
WS Checkout Control provides rule-based customization for payment methods already enabled and supported on your Shopify store.
- Not a payment gateway: The app controls existing payment methods offered by Shopify at checkout. It does not process credit cards, create a payment gateway, process bank transfers, or add new payment payment methods to Shopify.
- High-value order workflows: To prioritize manual payments (e.g. direct bank transfer) for large transactions, merchants must first enable a manual payment method such as Bank Deposit or Direct Bank Transfer in Shopify Settings → Payments, then create WS Checkout Control rules prioritizing that method and hiding selected card options above the threshold.
- Shopify Plus & accelerated checkouts: Shopify applies plan and geographic restrictions to certain payment customization operations. Hiding or reordering accelerated checkout options (such as Shop Pay, Apple Pay, or Google Pay) via custom apps requires a Shopify Plus subscription.
3. Delivery and pickup customization boundaries
Delivery customization rules operate on shipping rates, local delivery options, pickup points, and local pickup locations returned by Shopify delivery profiles and carrier apps. Rules cannot alter actual carrier rates or generate shipping labels directly.
4. Merchant configuration & testing responsibilities
- Preset customization: Built-in preset rules are provided disabled by default. Merchants must review target method titles, order thresholds, and postal code lists and replace default values with store-specific parameters before activating rules.
- Pre-launch testing: Merchants are required to test checkout rules across every active market, currency, language, payment method, delivery profile, and sales channel used by their store prior to enabling rules in live production.
- Synchronization: Rule modifications made in the app admin must be synchronized to Shopify Functions using the Synchronize action (or auto-sync setting) to take effect at checkout.
5. Fail-open architecture & safety controls
WS Checkout Control is engineered with fail-open safety protection. If a rule condition encounters malformed input or an unexpected error during Shopify Function execution, the Function returns zero operations rather than blocking or interrupting the buyer's checkout flow.
Merchants can also enable "Prevent rules from hiding every available option" in App Settings to ensure buyers always retain at least one valid payment or delivery method.
6. License grant & intellectual property
Subject to subscription terms and compliance with these terms, WS Themes grants merchants a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use WS Checkout Control on their authorized Shopify store.
7. Disclaimer of warranties & limitation of liability
The application is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. WS Themes does not guarantee specific conversion outcomes or uninterrupted availability resulting from Shopify platform changes or API updates. To the maximum extent permitted by law, WS Themes shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from rule misconfiguration or store operation.
